Alphabet Soup

When seeing some ActiveRain members out there reminds me about a query I have had for years.  All the letters for certifications that run, sometimes stream off the back of a name on a business card or letterhead.

Maybe its just jealosy that I don't have the same yet.

But I have always wondered does this matter to the most important people - Customers!

Don't get me wrong - I think they are a great thing.  To obtain a certification one has to educate themselves and become an expert in there field which benefits the customer.  But does the customer know this??

What are your thoughts out there in AR land?

The client will know by the job you do. The letters mean nothing and the public has no idea what they mean but the knowledge gained by many of them will help the client more than you know.

The job you do is the most important, but those designations are not just letters they are expertise.

Get yourself some. You won't be sorry.

When you go to a listing appointment, tell your customers what they mean and that you are more professional for having obtained them. They mean that you took the time to further your real estate education, that this is your profession and not your hobby and that you value your customers and want to know as much as you can about your business so that you are better able to help them. They will look at the next Realtor they interview and compare.

I never refer a client to a Realtor in another state unless they have a CRS designation. I know what is involved in obtaining those "letters."
